  2. Get 2 potatoes
  3. Prepare 7-8 florets of cauliflower

  5. Get 1 inch ginger

  7. Take 2 tbsp oil
  8. Get 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  9. Prepare 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  10. Prepare 1/2 tsp red chilly powder
  11. Prepare 1 tbsp goda masala(special masala from Maharashtra)
  12. Make ready 1 tbsp dhania(coriander powder)
  13. Prepare 1 tsp cumin powder
  14. Take 1/2 cup curd
  15. Get To taste Salt
  16. Make ready 1/2 tsp sugar
  17. Make ready Oil for deep frying
  18. Take 2 cups water
  19. Prepare Fresh green coriander
  20. Make ready 1 tbsp grated dry coconut

You can add your choice of vegetables or available vegetables to the rice dish. Goda masala is also called Kala masala in some parts of Maharashtra. You can add you favorite vegetables in masala bhat. Masala Bhat is a very popular recipe.

Steps to make Masale bhat:
  1. Wash rice twice and drain water with strainer. Keep aside.
  2. Now cut potatoes in 8 parts. Make tomato, chilly and ginger paste.
  3. In a pan add 1tsp oil and add rice. Fry for 2-3 mins. Keep aside.
  4. Deep-fry potatoes/ cauliflower. Keep aside.
  5. In a Pressure cooker add Oil. Add mustard seeds, add chilli ginger paste when crackling of mustard seeds stops. Fry for 2 mins. Add Potatoes/ cauliflower.
  6. Fry for another min and add turmeric powder, chilli powder, goda masala. Now add rice. Mix all ingredients properly.
  7. Now in a separate bowl add coriander powder and cumin powder with curd. Add this to rice and stir for a min.
  8. Add salt and sugar. Add hot water. Close the leed.cook for 5 more minutes after two whistles.
  9. Enjoy your masala bhaat with matha (butter milk). Serving suggestion. Add grated coconut and fresh coriander on top of masala bhaat. Serve hot.
