Instructions to make Butterfly doll cake:
- Pre-heat the oven at 180°C.
- For vanilla sponge: Take all the dry ingredients and sieve them 4-5 times for softer sponge.
- In a microwave proof bowl take wet ingredients except vanilla essence. Heat the contents for 1 minute at high temperature.
- Now add vanilla essence to the wet ingredients. Add the dry ingredients in 3 parts by cut and fold method.
- Transfer the properly mixed batter into a well greased 8" round cake tin. Bake the cake in the preheated oven for 55 minutes or till the toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Cool the cake on wire rack and then cover it with cling wrap. Refrigerate the cling wrapped cake atleast for 2 hours.
- For frosting: Take the whipping cream in a cold bowl and whip till stiff peaks obtained.
- When the whipped cream is ready it becomes double in quantity.
- For chocolate ganache: Heat the fresh cream till mild bubbles are obtained. To this add the chopped chocolate and keep it aside for 10 minutes.
- Now mix both of them properly and keep it aside to set at room temperature for atleast 6 hours.
- For chocolate mousse: Mix 1/4 cup set chocolate ganache and 1/4 cup of whipped cream.
- Cut the vanilla sponge into 3 parts.
- Take a cake board and spread the whipped cream on it. Now place the first part of the cake sponge on it.
- Soak the first part of the sponge and spread the whipped cream on it. Now sprinkle tutti fruity on it.
- Repeat the same with the second part and cover the sides properly.
- Take the last part of the sponge and soak it with sugar syrup.
- Cover the whole cake with whipped cream and refrigerate for about an hour.
- Now remove the cake and cut into half and flip them to arrange the parts as shown in the picture.
- Cover the outer side with chocolate ganache and decorate with colourful sugar hearts.
- Cover the remaining part with whipped cream and give a wavy effect using cake comb.
- Decorate the top part with chocolate mousse, tutti fruity and chocolate chips.
- Now insert the half doll in the upper middle part of the cake. Support the doll by placing muffin below it.
- Cover the doll with chocolate mousse to give effect of dress.
- A very yummy and different type of cake is ready to serve.
