Mahamri are traditional Swahili doughnuts especially popular in the coastal regions of Kenya, Tanzania ,and Uganda. Kenyan Mahamri look like diminutive, bulging.

The ingredients needed to make Mahamri:
  1. Prepare all purpose flour
  2. Prepare sugar
  3. Make ready cardamon
  4. Prepare Coconut milk(thick one)
  5. Prepare Cooking oil
  6. Prepare instant Anita(or baking flour)

Instructions to make Mahamri:
  1. In a kitchen basin add the cardamon,coconut milk and sugar.stir untill sugar dissolves
  2. Start adding the flour slowly while kneading the dough.It should not be sticking on your fingers
  3. Keep on kneading for a while till the dough it's soft to touch.
  4. Cover with a kitchen towel for 30 minutes.
  5. Then knead again for 2 minutes to remove the air from the dough
  6. Spread it and cut it into triangles of your size
  7. Make all the triangles till the dough has finished
  8. In a pan heat the cooking oil.put low heat.Once the oil has heat up start adding the traingles 3 at a time depending on the size of your pan.it has to be deep enough for enough oil
  9. Turn them the other side till they are brown
  10. Remove and add the other ones.put them in filter paper to absorb oil or like this
  11. Serve with tea while hot
