- Take 1 cup Buttermilk(sour)

Instructions to make Suralichi vadi:
- Mix the gram flour, salt, asafoetida, turmeric together in a bowl.
- Add buttermilk and water gradually to make a smooth paste.
- Transfer this mixture into the pan and cook it on low flame and stir continuously for about 15 to 20 minutes so that lumps do not formed.
- After the gram flour mixture is completely cooked it will become a smooth paste. Switch off the gas.
- To check whether batter is perfectly cooked spread little amount of batter on smooth surface. Leave for a minute. If it easily peeled out batter can be perfectly cooked otherwise the batter needs to be cook more.
- Using spatula take some mixture and spread it evenly on smooth surface quickly.(you can spread it on back of the stainless steel plate or baking tray.)
- You have to be quick with remaining batter too. Since even a bit of cooling the batter becomes difficult to spread.
- Cool it down for 5 minutes. Cut it into strips using a knife. Fill the strips with the coconut and coriander mixture as above mentioned.
- Gently roll each strip. Arrange the roll in serving plate.
- Heat the oil in small kadhai. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds,sesame seeds and asafoetida and pour this hot tempering on roll evenly.
- Now delicious suralichyi vadi is ready to eat.
