  2. Prepare 2 cup Gram flour(besan)
  3. Take 2 tsp rice flour
  4. Get 1 cup Fresh grated coconut

  7. Take 1 inch Ginger
  8. Get 2 tsp Tamarind pulp
  9. Take 1/2 cup Jaggery
  10. Get 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
  11. Make ready 1 tsp Red chilli powder
  12. Prepare 1 tsp Garam masala
  13. Get 1/2 tsp Asafoetida
  14. Take 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
  15. Prepare 1 tsp Coriander seeds
  16. Prepare 1 tsp White sesame (til)
  17. Make ready Salt to taste
  18. Take Water as required

AluWadi or Patra or Patrado is a roll made of Arum/Colocasia/Taro root leaves. Since Arum leaves are not available here, I had experimented making rolls with mustard leaves.

Instructions to make Aalu(patra) vadi:
  1. Wash the leaves and make pat dry…cut the streams…leave only the leaves and roll it to belan
  2. Heat a pan add onion and coconut rost till golden brown
  3. Take mixi jar add dry rosted coconut, onion,garlic, ginger,cumin seeds, coriander seeds, water and grind it and make a paste
  4. Take a bowl add gram flour, rice flour, turmeric, red chilli powder, asafoetida, garam masala, tamarind pulp, jaggery,sesame, coconut paste,salt to taste…make the batter like we often make like idli batter…no lumps there take the leaves, apply back side the batter on leaves take on one by one
  5. Now roll the leaves apply batter over it also, make all leaves roll together
  6. Take a steamer place these patra roll over it and steam for 10-15 mins
  7. When cool down take out the roll, now cut it if u want crunchy. and crispy u can fry it or get tadka
  8. Your tasty aalu vadi is redy to serve
