This White Dhokla, also known as Khatta Dhokla is a tangy and savoury Gujarati snack loved by people of all ages. Khatta Dhokla also called White Dhokla. Khatta Dhokla is a vegetarian food item that originates from Gujarat. Khatta Dhokla is like Khaman, and the terms are frequently used interchangeably.

Instructions to make White dhokla:
  1. Take a bowl, add suji, gram flour, rice flour, curd, salt, water, ginger and chilli paste, crushed black pepper. Water as required. Mix well. And keep it for 5min.
  2. Add oil, mix well. If needed add some more water to set consistency.
  3. Other side heat steamer for steaming it.
  4. Add soda into batter and mix well. Add into greased thali, season with black pepper powder. Steam for 8-10 min on medium flame.
  5. Serve hot.

We call this safed dhokla aka white dhokla. Because on occasion we make yellow colored dhokla where chana dal is used. So the color name used to differentiate both.
