- Get 10-12 cloves garlic
- Get 5-6 green chilli
- Take 2 tbsp Cumin seeds
- Get 1/2 tsp black pepper

- Prepare 3 cloves
- Get 1 inch cinnamon stick
- Make ready 3 tbsp mustard oil
- Prepare 1 bay leaf
- Take 2 dry red chilli
- Take 1 tsp panchforan
- Get 1 medium sized sliced onion
- Make ready 1 medium sized chopped tomatoes
- Take 1 tbsp kashmiri red chilli powder
- Prepare 1 tsp turmeric powder
- Prepare As per taste Salt
- Get as required Water
- Take For Vadi
- Take 1 cup moong dal
- Prepare 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- Make ready as per taste Salt
- Make ready 1 small sized chopped onion
- Make ready as required Oil for frying
Comforting, filling, delicious, simple and healthy Moong dal gravy is ready to be served with roti, parathas or rice. Note - You can adjust the consistency of the gravy according to your preferences. Moong Dal Vada recipe here is made with green moong dal or green gram which is a whole green gram and not the split one. It has been soaked for hours before making the actual vada.
Instructions to make Moong Dal Vadi Gravy:
- Firstly in a jar take garlic, green chilli, cloves, cardamom, cinnamon, Cumin seeds, black pepper add water as required and make a fine paste. Transfer it into a bowl.
- Now in the same jar add moong Dal and also make a thick and smooth paste. Now transfer in into another bowl then add chopped onion, turmeric powder, salt and the 1 tbsp spices paste which we prepared. Now mix it well.
- Now heat oil in a deep frying pan drop the spoon full of vadi batter into the hot oil one by one and frying in till golden brown. Same like this make all the vadis.
- Now in a pan heat the mustard oil now add panchforan, red chilli and bay leaf. Wait for a minute now add sliced onion and saute it till translucent. Now add prepared spices paste and turmeric powder and mix it and cook it for 3-4 minutes.
- Now add chopped tomatoes and mix well and cook it for a minute. Now add red chilli powder and salt mix it well and again cook it for a minute. Now add water (as per your choice of gravy thickness) and allow to boil it.
- Once it boiled switch off the flame and add the all vadis and cover it with lid and leave it for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes moong dal vadi gravy is ready to eat serve it with roti and rice. Enjoy!
