Aloo Poha or Batata Poha is one of the popular NorthIndian Breakfast dish especially in Gujarat and many parts of Mumbai. Aloo Poha/Urulaikizhangu Aval Upma/Potato Poha, a quick and delicious. Aloo Poha or Kanda Batata Poha is a delicious, simple and mildly spicy breakfast made from Poha (flattened rice flakes) along with Onion (Kanda) and Potato (Batata). Poha is my all time favourite dish.
Instructions to make Poha Aloo Balls:
- Dry roast peanuts in a wok. Remove in a plate and allow it to cool. Now remove the skin of peanuts and grind coarsely.
- Wash poha in running water and soak in enough water for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes drain excess water and keep aside.
- Boil peas in a pan and when cool then drain the water and Grind it coarsely. Grind bread slices to a fine powder.
- Peel wash and Chop onion green chilli and coriander leaves. Heat oil in a wok add cumin seeds and when cumin seeds splutter put ginger garlic paste and saute for 30 seconds.
- Add onion and saute till onion gets translucent. Add coarsely grinded boiled peas and saute for 2 minutes. Now mix all the dry masale.
- Add desiccated coconut powder, grinded peanuts and coriander leaves and sauté for 1 minute. Now remove this stuffing in a plate and when cool make small balls of this mixture.
- Peel and mash boiled potatoes. Add grinded bread and salt and make a dough.
- Now take a portion of potato dough and make a ball of this dough. Press this ball on your palms and flatten it. Place the stuffing ball on it and cover it with the edges and make it round.
- Like wise make all the balls. Now heat cooking oil in a wok and place ball in it and deep fry on all sides till golden brown.
- Serve hot with Tomato ketchup.
