- Prepare 1/2 kg dry abacha
- Prepare 2 cksp Palm Oil
- Make ready 2 knorr cube
- Take 1/2 cup crayfish
- Get to taste salt
- Take 1 bulb onion diced
- Take 3 fresh pepper
- Get 2 leaf akwukwo ofe (garden egg leaf) sliced
- Make ready 1 tbsp potash(akawu)
It can be served as a meal or snack at home, restaurants or parties. The cassava tubers are cooked till done then sliced with a special grater. Ingredients used in making abacha or African salad vary from person to person. Abacha is basically dried shredded cassava mixed with palm oil and other condiments.
Instructions to make Abacha (African Salad):
- In a bowl add enough lukewarm water that can cover the abacha, drain and set aside; In a small plate pour in the potash and add a little water and set aside.
- Pound pepper, crayfrish and onion in a small mortar if you have any and set aside.
- In a pot, pour in Palm oil and mix in the potash water and stir till you get a yellow paste, add your pounded crayfish, salt, onions, pepper and knorr cube mix everything together
- Add the drain abacha into the oil paste and stir proper, add the garden egg leaf, stir and serve with fried fish
- I decided to dice some of the garden leaf and onions separately so I can sprinkle on it
